Venomtech provides off-the-shelf and fully customised venom-derived peptide arrays to our global client base in the drug discovery, crop protection, and cosmetics markets, as well as to academic institutions. Our mission at Venomtech is to enable venom-based lead generation by providing bespoke, high-quality venom libraries in a ready-to-use format for early to mid-stage projects.

The role of sales account manager has been created to improve our efficiency and effectiveness in supporting our customers. The role will be varied and demanding but is designed to provide a very broad remit to learn and improve how Venomtech serves its customers. For the right candidate, the role can evolve within a 12-month timeframe, to build and lead our sales and/or marketing team.
The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO.

Role requirements

  • To generate new sales leads and support established client base and in doing so achieve annual sales targets.
  • To provide home-based sales (and marketing) function by handling inbound customer contacts (telephone, email etc) and managing the quoting process.
  • To provide first line technical support, the second line being provided by the CSO and operations team.
  • To open and close customer queries (quotes, orders & complaints) in a timely fashion.
  • To manage the key business processes (lead to opportunity to order/contract to cash).
  • To lead the marketing effort in lead generation and lead conversion and to sell incremental products and services to the existing base.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Arrange meetings or teleconferences with prospective clients.
  • Provide technical information and coordinate presentations to prospective clients.
  • Develop and prepare marketing material and sales presentations.
  • Organise and host client visits or teleconferences.
  • Prepare proposals and quotes.
  • Utilise CRM to manage the sales pipeline.
  • Provide monthly sales / marketing reports to management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve superior customer satisfaction.
  • Set and manage customer expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge on key competitor activities.
  • Attend relevant conferences when required and follow up on leads.
  • Approximately 50 % travel is expected (subject to Covid-19 travel restrictions).

Person specification

  • Minimum requirement is a life science degree (e.g. pharmacology, biochemistry, biomedical), preferably with a masters or PhD.
  • 4+ years’ experience in life science or crop protection sales.
  • Proven track record in hitting sales and revenue targets.
  • Strong commercial and negotiating skills.
  • Entrepreneurial outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Marketing experience; desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience using CRM databases.
  • Experience in managing varied customers queries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Capable of identifying appropriate clients and partners.
  • Able and willing to operate remotely, whilst remaining a key member of the Sandwich-based team.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team.

  • Minimum 5 years selling drug discovery screening products and services
  • Existing contacts (Europe and USA ) in place that can be accessed from day one as sales opportunities.
  • Good understanding of drug discovery process with PhD or extensive experience working in pharma / biotech + MBA
  • Hunter more than a farmer
  • UK based (preferably in the south)
  • Proven at hitting stretch goals and can impact the market and drive revenue quickly.
  • Excellent communicator and ability to cooperate with all internal teams (i.e. Operations, Lab, Shipping) in a positive and collaborative way.
  • Willing to travel globally

We are looking for Laboratory head Scientist to join our team.

Person specification

  • PhD with 5 yrs post PhD experience working in biotech or pharma or crop protection
  • MSc with 10 yrs experience working in biotech or pharma or crop protection
  • Proactive mindset with strong sense of responsibility and ownership
  • Lab management experience essential (proven track record of managing and leading laboratory operations and staff)
  • Ability to work to consistently high standard and meeting deadlines.
  • HPLC and Mass spec expertise desirable
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, Kent

We are looking to recruit a number of volunteer laboratory technicians, to gain experience of working with the animals in our venom lab. Full training will be given regarding the safe management of venomous animals and venom extraction.

Time Commitment 

The minimum requirement is one day a week, for three months, but open-ended, for the right candidates.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Aged 18 years +
  • Able to commit to a minimum of one day a week, for a minimum of three months.
  • Comfortable working with large spiders and scorpions, after training.
  • An interest in exotic animals, particularly invertebrates, and/or animal husbandry.

Preferred

  • Some experience of working with exotic animals, particularly invertebrates.
  • Some experience of working in a laboratory setting.
