Venom A to Z - F is for Factor X activators, these are venom proteins primarily found in snakes that cause rapid blood coagulation as Factor X is a key part of the initiaion of the blood clotting cascade. Snake venoms, principally those from vipers often have components that act on or mimic Factor X to aid prey capture. Therapeutically factor X activators and inhibitors are extremely useful and many can be found in out T-VDACV for cardiovascular drug discovery. |
